Platform Support: Sun Java System
Application Server Enterprise Edition
7 2004Q2 is available now for Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86, Red Hat Linux
Advanced Server 2.1 and Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 3.0. Standard
Edition is supported on Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 besides all the above
platforms. Support for
additional platforms will be available by product GA in short time.

Stability and Quality Fixes: This release fixes a number of performance, stability,
scalability, and availability fixes, providing improved experience over Sun Java System Application Server 7.
Non-root Install Support: The product now provides the option to install the Application Server
with privileges other than root. This option would greatly help developers and system test groups in an organization.
J2SE 1.4.2_04 Support: Product supports latest JDK 1.4.2_04, providing additional reliability and performance.
Database Support: The Sun Java System Application Server 7 2004Q2 product is designed to
support connectivity to any database management system with a corresponding
certified JDBC driver. The product has been tested with wide variety of
databases and drivers including Oracle 8i, 9i, 9i RAC, IBM DB2 8.1 UDB,
Sybase ASE 12.5, Sybase DTM 12.0, Pointbase 4.2, and MS SQL Server
2000. Refer to product documentation for more

Assembly Tool: The Assembly Tool (downloadable) supports high-availability
specific extensions to deployment descriptors.
Migration Tool: The Migration Tool (downloadable) enables
seamless migration of J2EE applications from various application servers to Sun Java System Application Server Standard and Enterprise Edition 7 2004Q2. Refer to the migration program website for more details and support information.
